This year, Franchina Aiudi, a long-time volunteer with Don Vittorione’s Movement, returned to Uganda with the vibrant energy of her 87 years to once again meet with the women she has trained in tailoring for many years. From January 27 to February 23, with the support of Valentino Pretelli, head of the Pesaro Urbino Group and secretary of the AMCD Board, and Beatrice Bistocco, a volunteer from Tolentino, she organized a course for about twenty women from Loputuk.
She also organized a meal for the 150 primary school children, which grew to 500 due to the influx of children from surrounding villages. Finally, at the end of her stay, Franchina and Valentino organized a meal for the village's poor, involving 500 people—a shared meal as a moment of community and remembrance. Loputuk is one of the places where the Movement’s impact has been and continues to be significant. In the parish territory, over 12,000 people live, and AMCD, in addition to building a dispensary and houses for nurses, has drilled at least 20 wells and rehabilitated many others that were non-functional.
The Moroto compound was also touched by the "Franchina tornado," as she prepared excellent dishes from the Marche region’s tradition for the staff and volunteers living in the AMCD house, supporting a total of 17 development projects.
