My name is Daniele, I am 27 years old, and I am currently serving with Africa Mission Cooperation and Development (AMCD) in Moroto, Uganda. My mission focuses on the WASH sector, specifically on drilling and rehabilitating wells. This work has transformed the reality of entire villages in the districts of Amudat, Moroto, Nakapiripirit, and Nabilatuk, thanks in part to the CEI project.
Recently, we have rehabilitated over 30 wells, each vital for a village, school, or community suffering from a lack of water. One of these places, the village of Napao in the Amudat district, has left a lasting impression on my heart. At the time of the inspection of the broken well, Napao was a deserted and forlorn place. The inhabitants had migrated due to the desperate lack of water. My mission, along with the AMCD team, aimed to restore life to this village through the repair of the well. The change was astounding. After our intervention, the village of Napao was reborn. The residents returned, and the sound of children playing and huts being built filled the previously silent air.
The presence of water had an immediate impact on the daily life of this community. The return of the population was a tangible sign of hope and revival. The constant presence of water not only met essential needs but also opened doors to new opportunities. With the improvement in water supply, the community can now focus on other challenges, such as education and economic development. In conclusion, each well we rehabilitate represents a step towards a sustainable future for these communities. I am grateful to be part of this project, to bring hope, and to see the tangible results of our daily actions. My experience here in Uganda is a journey of transformation, where water becomes a symbol of life and rebirth.
