Agroforestry Karamoja

Agroforestazione is a combination of sustainable agriculture, farming methods and zootechnics with a particular eye to environmental protection.

 

Duration: 3 months from 29 March 2006 to 30 June 2006, renewed until March 2007.

 

Year 2004:

 

Results:

• 18 local peasants attended agroforestation courses in Namalu

• Create 3 farmer commissions

• 18 lots (planted the hedge and planted the first seedlings of Acacia senegal and Key apple)

• Created 3 nurseries (at Loputuk, C & D and Nadiket Seminar)

• Training course for animal trawling (using both donkeys and oxen)

• Created demonstration harbor at the C & D headquarters

 

Beneficiaries:

100 people.

 

Year 2005:

 

Results:

• 17 local farmers attended the training course

• The three committees continue their monitoring work successfully

• The three nurseries have been expanded successfully. Nurseries are self-supporting by selling seedlings to other organizations and the local population

• Training course for animal trawling (using both donkeys and oxen)

• The demonstration harbor at the headquarters of Cooperation and Development has been completed

 

Beneficiaries:

100 people.

 

Year 2006:

 

Results:

• The farmers' commissions of Loputuk, Nadunget and Nadiket met in January to evaluate the work they did.

• 10 farmers (the 20 participating in the project) are continuing with the planned activities.
