Results hospital structure

Only in the first quarter of 2009 allowed 622 patients, 42 children admitted to the nutrition section of the pediatric department. Among malaria treated malaria contributed 54%, followed by 22% respiratory tract infections, 12% pneumonia, and diarrhea.

86% of the total admissible patients between January and March 2009 have been cured and have been discharged, while 12% went to their own will. Less than 1% of deaths were reported. Mothers who voluntarily left the hospital structure were driven by socio-economic factors such as lack of food or the presence of other children left home.

In the third quarter of 2009, the number of children admitted to the pediatric ward doubled to 1.227 with 1,137 admissions (92.7%), while the percentage of patients leaving the hospital on their own initiative was halved, 6.6 %; No deaths occurred.

Malaria remains one of the main causes of admission to the hospital among children (both under and over the age of 5).

Direct beneficiaries 4,500 only of the infant-maternity ward - 18,000 of the entire hospital structure - default estimate

Year 2008

After several calls by the Medical Director of the District of Moroto, the CAO (the highest administrative district authority), the representatives at WHO (World Health Organization) and other International Agencies, and by the Italian Embassy in Kampala, Made it necessary to intervene at the Moroto Hospital to respond to the crisis situation that, in early 2008, saw the hospital completely discharged by medical staff (a single dentist present).

Results 2008

CUAMM, for the second half of 2008, guaranteed the presence of a first Ugandan doctor for pediatrics. C & S, besides having pierced a new water well inside the hospital, guaranteed a monetary grant to the project.

With the introduction of a new physician, the hospital activity is massively resumed: the increase in hospital admissions has doubled and the majority of children are rescued.
