How to support Oor work? A New Great Opportunity for Businesses

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is, according to EU Communication No. 681 of 2011, "the responsibility of enterprises for the impacts they have on society." The distinctive element of CSR is to pair economic responsibility with social responsibility, creating both tangible and intangible value for everything surrounding the company: people, territory, and environment. Today, consumers are increasingly critical of companies that display ethically or socially incorrect behaviors and are more attentive to the overall quality of products and practices.

So why is Corporate Social Responsibility important? Simple: because we all win together!

  • Companies improve their market reputation and economic performance, earning appreciation from customers and society.
  • The territory becomes more resilient, continuing to host sustainable and innovative businesses.
  • Society becomes more cohesive, sustainable, and attentive to human rights.

Business and solidarity are not incompatible goals, provided that both business activities and solidarity initiatives are conducted seriously, honestly, and concretely, aiming ultimately to improve people's lives through the offer of products or services.

Corporate Social Responsibility can now represent a significant and effective lever to enhance competitiveness and differentiate your company and its products.

5 Reasons to Associate Your BUSINESS with Africa Mission

  1. Our Movement has been supporting those in need for over 50 years, acting with concrete, immediate, and effective actions, sharing values of solidarity, fairness, and pragmatism.

  2. We are firmly established in Uganda, particularly in Karamoja (one of the poorest regions in Africa), where we implement development projects. Our intervention areas include: agriculture and livestock, water, community, socio-educational, support to local realities, health support, and emergency relief.

  3. Thanks to our founders Mons. Enrico Manfredini and Don Vittorione and the work done after their passing, we have supporters throughout Italy.

  4. We are recognized as a "Non-Governmental Organization" by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with eligibility for International Cooperation (Law 49/87).

  5. Being a "company close to the poorest in Africa" is a significant element for distinguishing and qualifying your company in the eyes of all potential stakeholders: customers, employees, collaborators, suppliers, and civil society.

Support one of our projects or create a joint development project:

  • Support one of our operational sectors (water, agriculture, socio-educational, local support).
  • Support the overall work of Africa Mission Cooperation and Development.

...How?

  • Continuous donation through SEPA transfer.
  • Regular donations, annually, semi-annually, or otherwise, linked to a specific project (e.g., a well, school enrollment packages, purchasing equipment/materials/vehicles/furnishings, providing seeds or livestock for breeding or traction, etc.).
  • One-time donation specifically linked to a project.
  • Allocate a small percentage of your turnover to AMCD (specific activity or project).
  • Solidarity sales campaign during which a small percentage of the sale of one or more of your products is donated to AMCD (specific activity or project). The campaign is held over a defined period (e.g., 1 month, 3 months, etc.).
  • Act as an intermediary with your customers to generate a donation linked to a purchase or consumption. For example, a small amount is added to a restaurant bill for AMCD. The customer can choose to pay it and, if they wish, increase the donation amount.
  • Obtain authorization from your employees to withhold a small amount from their salary for AMCD (specific activity or project).

Tax Benefits

For cash donations made by entities and companies, there is a possibility of deduction from taxable income up to 10% of the total declared income. If the deduction exceeds the total declared income, reduced by all other deductions, the excess can be carried forward to subsequent years but not beyond the fourth year, up to the amount of the excess.

For in-kind donations eligible for tax deduction or base deduction, reference is the decree of the Minister of Labor and Social Policies dated 28/11/2019, based on the normal value of the donated goods.

To be valid, donations must be accompanied by written documentation from the donor detailing the goods and their values. For donations exceeding 30,000 euros or when the value of goods cannot be objectively assessed, the donor must obtain a sworn appraisal certifying the value of the donated goods (referenced to no more than 90 days before the transfer), and provide a copy to the recipient. The recipient must then provide a declaration committing to use the goods directly for statutory activities aimed exclusively at civic, solidarity, and social utility purposes.

The law 166/2016 remains in effect, stating that donations of certain types of goods to subjects indicated by the legislator, including third-sector entities, are not considered a transfer and the goods are not deemed intended for purposes outside business operations. Such donations are not considered transfers, and the VAT on their purchase or production costs has no deduction limits. Goods covered by this provision include surplus food, medicines, medical supplies, personal hygiene and care products, books and related supplementary supports, and other products listed in article 16, paragraph 1 of law 166/2016.
