Gaining experience abroad is a great opportunity to learn and broaden one's horizons.
For this reason, we here at Africa Mission carry on the project "Come and See", whereby for years now tens of boys and girls have the chance to leave for Karamoja! The project involves young people engaged in a learning process of at least one year, already assembled groups (parish groups) are favored, while individual requests will be considered.
The trip is usually during July-August and it's 3 weeks long: for knowing, serving and sharing.
- Experience in Uganda
- 3 weeks
- 10 people groups, of which 2 accompanying persons
- preparatory meetings in Piacenza
Along with enthusiasm, preparation and awareness are fundamental items to be brought while travelling.
For this reason, before leaving Africa Mission organizes compulsory preparatory meetings to train the volunteers on Karamoja's context and on some known practices, but also to know each other and build a group of friends.
The meetings have residential status at Piacenza headquarters, from Saturday morning until Sunday.

COME, SEE... CHANGE
Special proposal for UNICATT students
For the 2025 edition we have a special proposal for students of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Piacenza.
Thanks to the contribution of the Foundation of Piacenza and Vigevano, students from the University of Piacenza will be able to participate in the project with a limitation of expenses.
COME - sign up and participate in meetings to learn about the contexts and prepare for the experience, creating a group of friends with whom to share it
'Always heard of the famous ''mal d'Africa'' and I have always wondered how it was possible that a trip to such a distant land could touch your heart so deeply. '' (*)
SEE - Uganda, territories, people, projects
'It’s a journey that overwhelms you, upsets and involves you in a total way.
In this trip we have met a nation made of people with different customs and habits from ours, with complicated habits and stories and despite the color of our skin was different we always felt at home. ... It was like finding yourself in the embrace of a friend every day, even when the things we saw were painful or seemed difficult to understand, almost impossible. '' (*)
CHANGE - give back what you have lived and learned in your territory
'You can’t think of changing the world by yourself or with a three week trip but you know that you can make a different sense of what you will do when you return.'' (*)
(*) Federica - 'Vieni e Vedi' from a few years ago

Non penso di poter riassumere in poche righe tutto quello che ho vissuto ma posso dire che sicuramente, almeno in parte, vivere in questo continente cambia la prospettiva con cui guardi la vita.
