Procida is embracing solidarity. From September 27 to 29, the island will host the Vela Cup Procida, an event organized by the local branch of the Lega Navale (Naval League) and the Giornale della Vela (Sailing Magazine). As part of the event, the sixth edition of the "Regatta for Africa" will take place, supporting the projects of Africa Mission Cooperation and Development, particularly the well-drilling campaign in Uganda. This is a regatta within a regatta, featuring a separate ranking and awarding the top three boats flying the flag of Africa Mission Cooperation and Development, the NGO founded 52 years ago by Father Vittorione Pastori.
The race will consist of a full tour around the island, and even those without a boat can participate by boarding one of the Blue Dream Charter fleet's vessels. A total of 100 boats will take part, all competing to support the drilling of a well in Uganda.
Also present will be the "Ladies of the Sea"—prestigious vintage yachts whose crews will race along the coastal route of the Procida Vela Cup, making this celebration of the sea and sailing even more special. The event will also feature ASDEC (the Association of Vintage and Classic Boats), which will showcase a selection of vintage boats and reward owners with two awards: one for motor yachts and the other for sailing boats. Additionally, Nino Aprea, founder of the Antico Cantiere del Legno Aprea (Aprea’s Ancient Wooden Shipyard), will be among the partners of the Procida Vela Cup.
