Project Context:
Karamoja faces chronic food insecurity, limited access to essential services like education and healthcare, environmental degradation, erratic rainfall, and recurring droughts, leaving families unable to meet basic needs. Poor infrastructure further hinders access to markets and income-generating activities, while socio-cultural challenges, including population growth, gender bias, and conflicts among traditional pastoralists, farmers, government, and private entities, compound these issues.

Project Aim:
This project seeks to transform the theoretical possibility of autonomy for youth into reality, empowering them to take charge of their lives, improve their situations sustainably, and contribute positively to their families and communities.

Key Objectives:

• Increase job opportunities for young people.
• Enhance the capacity of institutions involved in training and employment.
• Create a supportive environment for the qualification and employment of youth, leading to improved remuneration.

Key Conditions for Success:
The theory of change emphasizes essential conditions related to gender, environment, sustainability, peace, and conflict mitigation.

Direct Beneficiaries:

• 3,500 vulnerable youth (50% women)
• 3 Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs)
• 10 private sector institutions
• Relevant government ministries, departments, and agencies involved in vocational training.

Indirect Beneficiaries:

• 18,200 household members

General Objective:

To increase paid employment among young people, with a focus on gender, environmental sustainability, peace, and conflict mitigation.

Specific Objective:

To enhance employment opportunities for youth and improve their remuneration by providing training that aligns with actual labor market demands.

Expected Results:

• Result 1: Increased employment opportunities for young people.
• Result 2: Improved capacity of qualification and employment bodies (VTIs, civil society organizations, and the private sector).
• Result 3: A legal and political environment conducive to youth qualification and employment.
