The Multi-Champion Gianotti as AMCS Ambassador at the Venice Marathon 2024
Multi-champion Paola Gianotti will run for Africa Mission Cooperation and Development (AMCS) at the Venice Marathon 2024, set for October 27. For years, the movement founded by Father Vittorione Pastori has participated in the event with the campaign "Run for Water, Run for Life."
"This year, the goal is to raise €10,000 to rehabilitate five water wells in Uganda's Karamoja region," explains Director Carlo Ruspantini. "We are very happy and honored to have Paola Gianotti as our ambassador."
Gianotti and Africa Mission: A Long-Lasting Friendship
Gianotti, a cyclist with four Guinness World Records to her name, has been linked to Africa Mission for several years. In 2016, she traveled to Uganda for the "Hope Travels by Bike" project, where she distributed 73 bicycles to 73 women in Karamoja. The bikes were purchased with funds raised by Gianotti during her "48 States, 48 Days, 48 Bikes" challenge, where she crossed 48 U.S. states. In 2020, Gianotti served as a virtual ambassador during the Venice Marathon due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2021, she visited the headquarters of Africa Mission Cooperation and Development in Piacenza.
Sport and Solidarity: A Winning Combination
"Africa Mission is like family to me," Gianotti explains. "It has always been close to my heart. This year, I decided to participate in the Venice Marathon with the Movement because I love combining sports with solidarity. I believe it's more important to care for the environment and others than to break another record. That's what truly makes a difference."
How to Participate in the Venice Marathon?
