Project Description:
"Open Houses" is a historic initiative aimed at directly supporting local associations and missionary activities to enhance their capacity to undertake initiatives that improve the quality of life for the Ugandan population, particularly vulnerable groups. The project seeks to provide concrete solutions to the urgent and pressing challenges faced by these communities.

Key Activities:

• Distribution of food and various materials.
• Transport of goods.
• Reception and listening to community requests.
• Technical and administrative support for project implementation and social actions.
• Financial assistance for the construction and maintenance of facilities.

Health Context:

Uganda faces significant challenges in health service availability, particularly in the North, where Karamoja exhibits alarming health indicators. The maternal mortality rate is estimated at 588 per 100,000 live births, compared to a national average of 336 (UNFPA, 2018). Additionally, the under-five mortality rate stands at 102 per 1,000 live births, with infant mortality at 72 per 1,000 live births (Demographic Health Survey 2016).

Since its inception, AMCS has supported the third-level health centers in Loputuk and Tapac, Diocese of Moroto. These centers provide prevention, treatment, health promotion, and protection services, focusing on maternal and child health, family planning counseling, and home and school healthcare, including vaccination campaigns.

General Objective:

To improve the living conditions of local communities through direct support to relevant local structures.

Specific Objectives:

• To assist organizations and structures in their aid and assistance activities for the poorest.
• To promote solidarity and help communities enhance the quality of life for their members.
• To gain a deeper understanding of local realities.
