Continuing the Fundraising for the Well Dedicated to Antonio

"One of the most beautiful things that Antonio left me is Africa Mission. His passion for the Movement, that enthusiasm he had in embracing initiatives and planning them year after year." These are the heartfelt words of Giuseppina, known to everyone as Giusy, the partner and wife of Antonio Anzalone, our unstoppable volunteer from Procida who passed away a few months ago.

Giusy and Antonio shared their lives together for over twenty years. "We've been together a lifetime," she confirms, reflecting on their journey together.

Six Thousand Euros Raised So Far

Immediately after Antonio's passing, the island of Procida mobilized to raise funds for a well dedicated to him. "Currently, we've reached six thousand euros," Giusy explains. "We're halfway there, but I hope that soon we can collect the other half." To construct a well in Uganda, a total of twelve thousand euros is needed, and the six thousand collected in Procida are a testament to the generosity of many.

The Generosity of Procida

"I want to particularly thank the Operazione Primavera Association: Antonio sometimes worked hard for them, and they haven't forgotten him," Giusy shares. She also acknowledges the Pleiadichorus choir from Procida and the Borgo Marinaro Chiaiolella association. Additionally, many friends and relatives have contributed. In recent months, several donation boxes have been placed in various local businesses, and these will be repositioned starting in September. However, two boxes have been left at the Bim bum bam toy store and the tobacco shop in Chiaiolella.

"Africa Mission Meant Everything to Him"

For Giusy, this fundraising effort is a way to carry on her husband’s legacy. "Africa Mission was a project he cared deeply about," she explains. "For me, getting involved with the Movement is a way to continue Antonio’s message. I remember very well how, after a Procida dinner in Piacenza, he would immediately start thinking about the menu for the following year. He would ask for my advice and often listened to me. Piacenza and Africa Mission were always part of our conversations and his thoughts. So now, my mission is to carry on his message, his project."

Our (and your) task is to ensure that a well named after Antonio Anzalone is built in Uganda as soon as possible.
