Reservoir of Moroto

Financing: Co-finanziato NUSAF (special Fund of the World Bank for the North Uganda), Government of Uganda.
General objective: to increase the availability of drinkable water for the inhabitants of the municipality of Moroto through the restoration of the aqueduct.
Results 2010
- Perforation two new wells.
- Installation six submerged pomps.
- Rehabilitation of a reservoir in iron 1000mc and one in armed cement 270mc.
- Uninstall of 1.8km of pipelines of cement asbestos 6" and substitution with pipelines in pvc and steel 6."
-Installation 600m pipeline in HDPE 4."
- Installation of 2km of pipelines pvc 3" for the distribution.
- Rehabilitation 11 kiosks of distribution water.
Beneficiaries: 11.000 inhabitants of the district of Moroto
Year 2009
Results
Phase 1. preliminary Actions and creation of the water source
- rehabilitated the non work 3 systems of pumping in Tepeth;
- purchased and connected a generator for the pomps in Tepeth;
- you order the pipelines to mend the net of transmission of the level of mountain;
- you rehabilitate both the cisterns / reservoirs of the levels of mountain and valley;
- substitution of the behaviors of communication among the cisterns of the two levels;
Phase 2. Purchase of the material and execution of the jobs of rehabilitation
- realized construction for the generator of the pomp;
- purchased a backup generator for the pomps. in phase of connection;
- ordered the pipes for the lines of transmission of the three wells;
- replaced elements of the systems of distribution of Moroto MMC P Sch, Lia Street, Moroto Prison - KDA and for the peripheral zones of the city of Moroto as Katanga, Kasimeri and Acholi Inn.
- you restore completely the cisterns of accumulation water built in the years '60 (level awry 1000m and level in valley 270 ms)
- progressive restoration of the net of water distribution of the city aqueduct built in the years '60 and unusable from over 30 years
- realized construction for the generator of the pomp;
- purchased a backup generator for the pomps. in phase of connection;
- ordered the pipes for the lines of transmission of the three wells;
- replaced elements of the systems of distribution of Moroto MMC P Sch, Lia Street, Moroto Prison - KDA and for the peripheral zones of the city of Moroto as Katanga, Kasimeri and Acholi Inn.

(the around 12.000 inhabitants of the city are provisioned with the 20 wells with pomp to hand today present in the city).

- analyzed the line of pipelines to bring water to level of the mountain: found in a discreet functional state;
- you analyze the lines of distribution that depart from the non work wells: 4 lines have been found obstruct and two have been found damaged. The pipelines have been sheltered and water has been pumped the principal reservoir;
- sheltered small losses to the principal reservoir of the system awry;
- exposed and the lines that connect the system of mountain to that of valley mend;
- created places of employment and of technical qualification of the personnel
